Teeth Whitening

Brushing and flossing are everyday ways to keep your teeth bright, white and healthy. Still, if you might feel like your smile is lacking some sparkle or is more yellow than it used to be, you’re not alone.

Several reasons why teeth turn yellow:

Food and Drink
Coffee, tea and red wine are some major staining culprits.

Tobacco Use
Two chemicals found in tobacco create stubborn stains: Tar and nicotine. Tar is naturally dark. Nicotine is colorless until it’s mixed with oxygen. Then, it turns into a yellowish, surface-staining substance.

Age
Below the hard, white outer shell of your teeth called enamel is a softer area called dentin. Over time, the outer enamel layer gets thinner with brushing and more of the yellowish dentin shows through.

How does it work?

Whitening products contain one of two tooth bleaches (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide). These bleaches break stains into smaller pieces, which make the color less concentrated and your teeth brighter.

Two options for teeth whitening

In-Office Bleaching – This procedure is called chair-side bleaching and usually requires only one office visit. The dentist will apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect your gums. Bleach is then applied to the teeth. The bleach will activate with no UV light necessary. This procedure takes an hour to complete.

At-Home Bleaching Peroxide-containing whiteners actually bleach the tooth enamel. They typically come in a gel and are placed in a tray that fits on your teeth. The concentration of the bleaching agent is lower than what your dentist would use in the office so it is safe to use at home. The dental staff with go over home instructions.

Dental Veneers

You no longer need to hide your smile because of gaps, chips, stains, or misshapen teeth. With dental veneers, you can easily correct your teeth’s imperfections to help you have a more confident, beautiful smile. Veneers are natural in appearance and are a perfect option for patients wanting to make minor adjustments to the look and feel of their smile. A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth to improve the color, length, shape or overall appearance of a tooth.

There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer: composite and dental porcelain. A composite resin veneer can be applied in one day. Each veneer is made by the dentist using tooth-colored composite directly onto the teeth. A porcelain veneer consists of several thin porcelain layers which replace original tooth enamel. This is a two visit appointment that requires the assistance of a lab technician.

Benefits of Veneers

Unlike natural teeth, custom-made veneers resist coffee and tea stains, and cigarette smoke because they are made of high-tech materials. Unlike crowns, veneers enable your natural teeth to remain largely intact with only a minimal amount being altered to fit the veneer. For teeth that resist whitening, veneers can make even the darkest teeth appear bright white.

Maintenance for Porcelain/Composite Resin Veneers

Maintaining porcelain or composite veneers is quite simple: Treat them as you would your original teeth, with routine brushing and flossing. Using non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste will typically be suggested by your dental professional for the porcelain veneers.

One week after your veneers are placed, you will be required to return to the office for a follow-up visit and evaluation so the dentist can see how your mouth is reacting to the veneers. Even if you feel the veneers are a success, this appointment is vital to your future oral health. If you have a habit of grinding or clenching your teeth, your dentist may fit you with a nighttime bite guard so you do not damage your veneers.

You should also return to your dentist and hygienist for regular professional maintenance because porcelain veneers should be polished with a specially formulated, non-abrasive paste, and because your dentist needs to inspect your dentistry for any sign of potential failure.

LUMINEERS – the painless way to bring out the beautiful, healthy, natural, permanently white smile in you.

Ultra-thin LUMINEERS are custom designed to give you the beautiful smile you’ve always dreamed of. Unlike traditional veneers, there are no shots, no drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and no pain. They’re even reversible, so you have nothing to lose and a beautiful smile to gain. Plus, LUMINEERS are proven to last for over 20 years so your beautiful smile will be with you for years and years.

Transforming your smile couldn’t be any easier; in fact, it takes just 2 easy visits.

Dental Crown

What are dental crowns?

If you have a chipped or broken tooth, or have had a root canal done, or are simply not satisfied with the color or shape of your tooth, a crown is a possible solution. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps, generally made out of porcelain, which is implanted over a tooth. The main reason dental crowns are used is to support a tooth with a weak structure.

Your doctor may recommend a crown when:

  • You have a tooth weakened by large decay

  • The tooth had a root canal or a root canal is recommended

  • There is a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down

  • You need support for a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left

  • You have misshaped or severely discolored teeth

  • dental implant is placed

Our crowns are custom made to match the form, size, and color of the surrounding teeth. Treatment can be completed with as few as 1-2 visits.

Same Day Crowns

CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry

We are your local CEREC dentists for single-visit tooth restorations. Why go to the dentist a second time if you don’t have to?

CEREC CAD/CAM dentistry involves taking a digital impression from one or more scans using visible light scanning, digital radiographs, CT scans, or other methods. It then involves designing the restoration on the computer leading to a 3D model and manufacturing the restoration.
By using the CAD/CAM machine, it allows the dentists/master ceramist to construct, produce, and insert individual ceramic restorations directly at the point of treatment (chairside) in a single appointment, rather than over multiple appointments. This makes CEREC/CAM dentistry very popular among our patients. Ladies and gentleman, this is the same-day crown.

Simply Smiles Miami CEREC Same-Day Crown

How does it work?

During a chair-side treatment, our master ceramist carries out all the steps, from digital impressions and computer-based construction of the restoration to the milling process, inside their office. The master ceramist uses an intraoral camera to take a photo of the prepared tooth, the opposing teeth, and the bite registration.

Based on the images, the CEREC software creates a virtual model of the patient’s tooth. The master ceramist uses this model to construct the tooth restoration on the screen and then passes on the finished construction within the office’s network or sends it wirelessly to a milling machine. The master ceramist will then add the finishing touches to the restoration by painting, polishing, and glazing it, before the dentist can cement it.
