Summer Activities in Miami to Keep Your Kids Smiling

Summer is upon us, and while the kids are excited about having a break from school, parents can often struggle with keeping their little ones entertained. Miami is a vibrant city with a lot to offer, but when you’ve lived somewhere long enough, it’s easy to get stuck doing the same things. Simply Smiles has come up with a list of exciting and educational activities to keep your family entertained this summer, and to help you keep a cool head during these hot months:

Explore Zoo Miami

With more than 3,000 animals on 750 acres, the Miami Zoo has something for everyone. It’s the only subtropical zoo in the continental United States. You can ride a monorail around the facility, visit the splash pad, or ride the carousel. It’s also a great place to safely get up close and personal with some of the greatest sets of teeth to be found in the animal kingdom!

Visit the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science

This 250,000 square-foot museum opened in 2017 and features captivating exhibits such as a planetarium, an exhibit hall, and a three-story Gulf Stream Aquarium habitat. The hammerhead sharks are a big draw to this museum, and your family may get lucky enough to get to see their intimidating teeth!

Peruse the shelves at Books & Books

Bookstores are a great way to get out of the summer heat and wander through the coffee-scented aisles full of adventures. At Simply Smiles, we enjoy a good book on the importance of oral health, but there is a story for every taste. If you have a child struggling to engage in caring for their teeth, there are some fantastic, engaging books that could help spark some interest in that area. They even host author reading events and trivia nights!

Play the day away at FunDimension

This entertainment center is fun for the whole family with a three-story indoor playground, a 7-D theater, bungee jumping, laser tag, and bumper cars. Just remember to pack your custom mouth guard to protect your teeth during these activities. We can custom-make one for you at our office if you need one. Another fun fact – the Imagine Dragons “Zero” music video was filmed here.

Innovate at the Poppet Project

The Poppet Project allows your kids to take their imagination and passions to new heights. From science projects, to art classes, and to crafting, the sky’s the limit. They offer summer camps or private space for a party or special event. Your children could learn to make jewelry or even 3D print an image of their teeth!

Savor time at the Berry Farms

The Berry Farms offer family-fun all year round. Hop on the bounce pad, tackle the 24-piece obstacle course, take a tour, and enjoy some of their delicious strawberries. As a bonus – strawberries contain malic acid which is a natural whitener for enamel and are actually great for helping keep your teeth stain free!

Stop by for a fun visit at Simply Smiles

OK, we know a trip to the dentist might not sound fun, but our expert and caring staff will do all we can to make your child’s visit a positive one. We work hard to provide a fun and comfortable environment. Plus, they will get to meet Ally the Alligator and get to go to the treasure box!

We hope that these activities have inspired you and your family to explore outside of your comfort zone. The greatest activities of all are when your children are having so much fun, they don’t even realize they are learning. That’s the kind of experience we strive to offer at our office, so we hope you’ll call and make an appointment today!
