Teeth Whitening

Brushing and flossing are everyday ways to keep your teeth bright, white and healthy. Still, if you might feel like your smile is lacking some sparkle or is more yellow than it used to be, you’re not alone.

Food and Drink

Coffee, tea, and red wine are some of the primary culprits responsible for causing significant staining on teeth.

Tobacco Use

Tobacco’s tar and nicotine cause stains. Tar is dark, while colorless nicotine turns yellow when mixed with oxygen, staining surfaces.

Age

Beneath the hard white enamel of your teeth lies softer yellowish dentin. Over time, brushing thins the enamel, revealing more dentin

How does it work?

Whitening products contain one of two tooth bleaches (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide). These bleaches break stains into smaller pieces, which make the color less concentrated and your teeth brighter.

Two options for teeth whitening

In-Office Bleaching: Also called chair-side bleaching, this procedure takes one office visit. The dentist applies a protective gel or rubber shield to your gums and then bleach to your teeth, activated without UV light. It takes an hour.

At-Home Bleaching: Uses peroxide-based gels in trays that fit your teeth. The concentration is lower than in-office treatments, making it safe for home use. Instructions are provided by the dental staff.

Dental Veneers

No need to hide your smile due to gaps, chips, stains, or misshapen teeth. Dental veneers correct these imperfections, offering a natural, beautiful appearance. Veneers are thin layers placed over teeth to improve color, length, shape, or overall look.

Types of Veneers:

  1. Composite Resin Veneers: Applied in one day using tooth-colored composite.
  2. Porcelain Veneers: Made of thin porcelain layers replacing tooth enamel, requiring two visits and a lab technician.

Benefits of Veneers

Stain Resistance

Custom-made veneers resist stains from coffee, tea, and cigarette smoke due to their high-tech materials.

Minimal Tooth Alteration

Unlike crowns, veneers preserve the majority of your natural teeth, requiring minimal alteration.

Effective Whitening

Veneers can make even the darkest teeth appear bright white, ideal for teeth that resist traditional whitening methods.

Maintenance for Porcelain/Composite Resin Veneers

Maintain porcelain or composite veneers with regular brushing and flossing, using non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste. A week after placement, a follow-up visit is essential for evaluation. For teeth grinding or clenching, a nighttime bite guard may be needed. Regular dental visits are crucial for professional maintenance and to inspect veneers for any potential issues.

Dental Crown

If you have a chipped or broken tooth, or have had a root canal done, or are simply not satisfied with the color or shape of your tooth, a crown is a possible solution. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps, generally made out of porcelain, which is implanted over a tooth. The main reason dental crowns are used is to support a tooth with a weak structure.

Your doctor may recommend a crown when:

  • You have a tooth weakened by large decay
  • The tooth had a root canal or a root canal is recommended
  • There is a broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down
  • You need support for a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t a lot of tooth left
  • You have misshaped or severely discolored teeth
  • dental implant is placed

Our crowns are custom made to match the form, size, and color of the surrounding teeth. Treatment can be completed with as few as 1-2 visits.

Same Day Crowns with CEREC CAD/CAM Dentistry

Local CEREC dentists offer single-visit tooth restorations, eliminating the need for a second visit.

CEREC CAD/CAM dentistry uses digital impressions from scans, radiographs, or CT scans to design and manufacture restorations. The CAD/CAM machine enables dentists to create and insert ceramic restorations in a single appointment, making same-day crowns popular among patients.

How does it work?

During a chair-side treatment, our master ceramist handles everything: digital impressions, computer-based restoration construction, and milling. An intraoral camera captures the tooth, opposing teeth, and bite registration. CEREC software creates a virtual model, used to construct the restoration, which is then sent to a milling machine. The ceramist finishes by painting, polishing, and glazing the restoration before the dentist cements it.
